The recent refugee migration to Europe and Germany poses several challenges on the health care and social systems as well as rising concerns from host populations. Alternatively migration could be also seen as an opportunity for the labour market and the social and demographic fabric of the German society.
In order to better comprehend these challenges and opportunities, it is essential to tackle them from interdisciplinary and international perspectives.
The conference “Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Refugee Migration and Health”, with the input from a collective of experts from various fields, aims to highlight the main challenges of health research in societies with dynamic migration such as Germany on one hand, and on the other hand, shed light on key political and humanitarian issues such as the equal right of migrants for accessing health care services. Furthermore, the conference will discuss public health strategies and interventions towards integration of migrants and towards fostering international cooperation on regular migration.
